Super Mario Bros Beaten In World Record Time (4:57:69)

Super-Mario-Bros-World-Record-SmashedWith nearly three decades to practice, it comes as no surprise that several gamers have completely mastered Super Mario Bros. Making the most of warp zones and various hidden tricks, one speedrunner has smashed all existing records and managed to beat the 1985 Nintendo NES classic in under five minutes.

While this incredible run may have been done using emulation and save states, seeing a game we've all grown up with demolished in mere minutes is a sight to behold. Finishing at the 4:57.69 mark, you'll be hard pressed to find another playthrough of Super Mario Bros that does it any quicker.

According to the SMB Leaderboards Wiki, this latest feat shaves half a second off the last record. While that doesn't sound like much, milliseconds are everything when it comes to speedruns.
