SquareEnix Reveal First Gameplay Trailer Of ‘Final Fantasy VII’ Remake

Final-Fantasy-VII-Remake-TrailerFollowing on from SquareEnix’s announcement earlier this year that Final Fantasy VII would be revamped for next-gen consoles, it’s safe to say the remake we’ve all been waiting for is coming. The very first gameplay footage of this upcoming epic was recently revealed at Sony’s PlayStation Experience event over in California.

Although just a mere two minutes of footage, there was more than enough on show for fans of the series - starting out with the game’s iconic opening sequence riding into Midgar. The team of Avalanche are introduced in glorious high definition including a new look for Barrett, which some may liken to a certain 80s TV star. Elsewhere plenty of the game’s early locations can be seen as Cloud roams through scenic non-battle scenarios.

The biggest change of all though is what appears to be an all new battle system. Instead of the strictly turn-based menu driven fights, Final Fantasy VII Remake appears to make use of Final Fantasy XV’s more open and three dimensional battle system. Other fans have suggested the combat draws inspiration from Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, but either way it’s looking rather different to the source material. For better or worse though, only time will tell.

The PS1 version was breath taking. This looks revamped, loads of attention to detail, they have been working on it for years now, so will be released next year probably near christmas

Meh... If I wanted Kingdom Hearts gameplay, I'd buy Kingdom Hearts, not Final Fantasy...

Good graphics and desing. Only one thing that I don't like, battles without turns.
