Speccy Tape - Load Games onto your ZX Spectrum via your iPhone

Speccy-Tape---Load-Games-onto-your-ZX-Spectrum-via-your-iPhoneConsidering the majority of cassette based video games are nothing but audible data, you could theoretically load games from vinyl or even CDs if you preferred. Knowing this, one iPhone developer has cleverly crafted an application to convert and stream ZX Spectrum tape images via the iPhone headphone jack, directly onto the home computer.

Speccy Tape, the new application from Wojciech Lazarski hooks into the never ending supply of ZX Spectrum tape images and information found on World of Spectrum, allowing you to directly download any legal tape image or ROM ready for use on the original hardware via the iPhone.

Although you could attempt the entire process yourself by using software such as TAP2WAV (to convert tape images into MP3s ready for use on portable media players), Lazarski's free application makes it all too easy with its clever multi-side loading functionality and wealth of games to choose from.

And should you struggle to find the game you want to stream from the endless choice on World of Spectrum, the application allows the uploading of your own ROM / tape images via email or by syncing images with iTunes.
