Sonic Megamix Still In Development Despite Recent Setbacks

Sonic-Megamix-Still-In-Development-Despite-Recent-SetbacksWhere ROM hacks are concerned Sonic Megamix is by far one of the most impressive results of reverse engineering a classic game. Although a key member of the Megamix team has recently stepped down, the head of the project has pushed forward with a reassuring note and a promising gameplay video featuring an updated zone.

The last stable release of Megamix (according to SonicRetro) was made available back in 2008. Since then as the team's leader Stealth has quite rightly said "Progress has been slow since the last public “release”, and even still over the last week. No member has presently expressed any desire to abandon the project, all meaning that we still have an in-tact team that is willing to push forward."

Despite this recent statement a new video of City Outskirts Zone- a re-imagining of Spring Yard Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog 1 - has been posted online to reassure the community that the Megamix project is far from over. The revised zone shows how far the project has developed over the years, sporting a new set of graphics and an updated move set for the blue hedgehog even Sega would be proud of.

Sonic Megamix Revised City Outskirts Gameplay Video

As usual stay tuned for further updates and hopefully news on a release date for this revised version of Sonic Megamix. Should you however have the urge to get your fix of new Sonic adventures, why not check out our guide to the Top 5 Sonic The Hedgehog ROM Hacks?

That's just incredible. I can't wait for the final release. The only thing I didn't like was the "B-B-Boss" and the "It's showtime!" stuff. Other than that, perfect. o.o I'm thoroughly impressed.

Knowing for myself just how good the last release was, I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled for this one.
