Sonic Before The Sequel - The Fan Made Answer To What Really Happened Between Sonic 1 And 2

Sonic-Before-The-Sequel---The-Fan-Made-Answer-To-What-Really-Happened-Between-Sonic-1-And-2While we're all familiar with the opening scene of Sonic and Tails arriving on the grassy tops of Emerald Hill Zone, how exactly did the duo arrive here hand in hand? An upcoming fan-made sequel to Sonic 1 and prequel to Sonic 2 known as Sonic Before The Sequel hopes to fill you in on the missing story with some rather impressive gameplay.

Starting out on the end game screen from the first Sega Mega Drive game, Sonic Before The Sequel has Sonic instantly warped to a new zone clutching the chaos emeralds in hand. Upon arrival, Sonic catches a glimpse of Death Egg construction underway in the distance and sets out to put an end to Robotnik's plans once more.

This new fan made Sonic The Hedgehog title is yet another fantastic addition the ever growing community of Sonic Hacks and fan games. Not only does SBTS offer the solid gameplay we're all so fond of, but the introduction of cut-scenes explaining the gaps between each area and event in game. Using snipped together cut-scene footage from Sonic CD and other titles within the series, this homemade entry to the Sonic world holds a real authentic feel to it.

Sonic Before The Sequel Gameplay Video

A demo of the game be downloaded from the official Sonic Before The Sequel website, offering more than enough gameplay to keep you going until the full version. Unlike most Sonic fan games and hacks, this is a standalone game which can be run on any PC without a Sega Mega Drive emulator.

I'm not entirely too sure at the moment. I'll form a proper opinion once the full version of the game is released. At the moment, i'm not overly keen. I don't know if it's just me, but the controls feel quite sluggish and the jumping is a little off...which made the first boss battle impossible for me to do, and I didn't manage to get past it.

It is one I'll be keeping an eye on though :)

Looks brilliant. Downloading the demo now. If the music in the trailer is anything like the music in the game I hope they release the soundtrack!
(Link to this comment) uberr3tronerd 2011-11-21 15:50 i got as far as the titanic tower...i had 4 lives but i decided to quit comment on this is that its a pretty good game for fan made...i noticed some of the textures and such were taken from other sonic games like sonic crackers like the characters themselves and the time font at the top left of the screen...the scenes give something new to the retro sonic games and some scenes were taken from other when before you get to play as tails...he falls into a pit with the same music and scene from star kirby super deluxe from the super main concern is that obviously sonic is meant to be fast and since its still a beta hes a little on the slow side...especially when trying to jump over feels like hes in space which made the first boss very difficult...the second boss was clever when you use tails and i like the soundtrack...looking forward to full release and hopefully the sonic speed problem will have been fixed

I agree with a lot of what uberr says. I found the game quite challenging, I think long time Sonic fans like myself will get a lot out of this. I REALLY hope that gamepad support and save games are included in the final release. I'd also like to see a full-screen video option.
