After a good few months of speculation, reports have finally confirmed that the much rumoured Neo Geo handheld is in fact materialising. The Neo Geo X portable is due for release in the second quarter of 2012, set to come pre-loaded with 20 classic SNK games.
Apparently dreams do come true! SNK’s handheld originally seemed too good to be true and the accompanying images sure didn’t do the rumours any justice. UK distributor Blaze who are more commonly known for their supply of modern Mega Drives are set to bring SNK’s handheld to the market soon.
The 20 games already loaded onto the device include all the classics such as Metal Slug, King of Fighters ‘94 and Fatal Fury, however, we’re hopefully that the on-board SD card functionality will allow the complete Neo Geo ROM set to be loaded with ease.
Whilst no price nor firm release date has been set, we’re very much looking forward to the handheld’s arrival. After all, who could turn down the chance to have up to 330 megabits of power in their pocket?

ouch.
I don't believe this will be the case. Given that the PSP can emulate the Neo Geo just fine, why would a step up- the PS Vita- cost considerably less than this retro emulation handheld?
Only time will tell I guess, but that bottom line is that this is far from £500 worth of technology and everyone knows it!
£500 Price tag = Hardcore Neo Geo fans will buy (Considering they pay that for one game!) but it's definatly not for me (isn't this limited to a certain number?)
Knowing Blaze it will be emulation rather than proper hardware driving the device and we all know how good Blaze products can be....
