SMSPower's Autumn Of Protos Part 3 - Even More Sega Master System & SG-1000 Prototype ROMs Released

SMSPowers-Autumn-Of-Protos-Part-3-Even-More-Sega-Master-System-SG-1000-Prototype-ROMs-ReleasedSMSPower have once again returned (in the Winter) with their Autumn of Dumps mission, bringing a selection of previously unarchived video game prototypes into play. Offering early builds of some popular Sega Master System games along with two unusual bonuses, be sure to make the most of these if you're a fan of the early 8-bit world of Sega.

One of the notable inclusions of this pack of releases is the BIOS from a prototype Sega Master System console. While there is little you can really be doing with this BIOS, it's great to know that the enthusiasts are making sure every last drop of our video game history is being archived for future generations.

Alongside this, SMSPower have released early prototypes of Choplifter, Hang-On, World Grand Prix and the memorable Transbot. While the release thread doesn't note any noticeable changes to the cartridge's retail releases, there is no mention that they are identical either. As usual, the hardcore Sega Master System fans can indulge in an evening of hunting for different code and features!

And last but not least is one more interesting addition. Nintendo NES fans might already be familiar with the yellow test cartridges which were used by Nintendo engineers to diagnose broken consoles, however there was no equivalent for the 8-bit Sega range, at least until now. The SG1000 M2 Check Program / Test Cartridge (テスト カートリッジ) for the SG-1000 from 1984 has been archived thanks to a generous collector by the name of Masato. Once more, while this will probably only appeal to the hardcore amongst us, we again applaud the efforts of SMSPower and those involved.
