SMSPower Releases Korean Master System ROM Of Nemesis 2

SMSPower-Releases-Rare-Korean-Master-System-ROM-Of-Nemesis-2Last year the Sega 8-bit aficionados, SMSPower, spent a good portion of their summer providing brand new ROM dumps to the retro gaming community. Amongst these were many rare Korean unofficial ports and exclusives, which brings us back round to today. SMSPower are back and have just released the Korean Master System ROM of Nemesis 2.

If you're puzzled as to why Nemesis / Gradius 2 is on the Master System, then you're not alone. Like many before it, such as Super Boy (a clone of Super Mario Bros) for the Master System, these games originate from Korea where there was several companies such as Zemina porting many famous titles unofficially to Sega's 8-bit systems.

These games were intended for the Korean version of the Sgea Master System known as the Samsung Gam*Boy, a rather unusual spin-off from the original hardware featuring rounded control pads.

Needless to say these systems and their games are rather hard to come by, but luckily enough the team behind SMSPower has been tracking the down and archiving them in ROM format for generations to come. The only downside to the arrival of this Nemesis 2 ROM is that it fails to load on the Master Everdrive Flash Cartridge on a standard PAL Master System, currently leaving this rare treat to be enjoyed via emulation only.

Aside from Nemesis 2, SMSPower also released two other ROMs this week for the Sega Game Gear. A prototype of Cutthroat Island and the US version of Scratch Golf.
