Segagaga Sega Dreamcast Fan Translation Back on Track

Segagaga-Fan-TranslationIn 2006 a small team of Sega Dreamcast fans gathered to take hold of Tez Okano's Sega simulator, hoping to rightfully translate the Japanese exclusive. By May 2007 the team had gone rather quiet leaving the whereabouts of the translation unknown up until now.

What is Segagaga? I hear a few of you say... In the dying days of the Sega Dreamcast, a game idea was put forward to the Sega Management which left a fair few speechless. Parodying the commercial failure of the Sega Dreamcast fighting it's rival, the Sony PlayStation 2, Segagaga put you in control of a Sega Simulator to stop the evil company taking over the console market. Although offering many flavours to the game, it was ultimately a console RPG featuring a very story driven plot and the tried and tested command based battles.

Sega didn't mind releasing Segagaga around this time, as Sony had muscled the Dreamcast out and left them with the thought that the game wouldn't tarnish their good name. Sadly it never stepped outside of Japan, as by the time it did see release the Sega Dreamcast was doomed worldwide.

Many die-hard Sega fans have already imported Segagaga for it's nostalgic value, not to mention the wealth of freebies included with the game. So for some, the chance to finally understand and enjoy the game with a fan translation comes as a real treat.

Fan translators at the Segagaga Translation Blog have relaunched their blog to keep the public up to date on the project. Their latest news update details the arrival of new members on board and more drive behind the project.

So should you fancy keeping your eye on the progress of the Sega Simulator translation, head over to the official translation blog and update your bookmarks.

That's great, thanks. Segagaga is one of those games I would love to be able to play.

As a BIG sega fan I would love the chance to play this game, but as I don't speak Japanese I really need the translation. Hope this comes to fruition.
