Sega Re-Registers Lost 'Shenmue' Trademark In Japan

Sega-Reregisters-Shenmue-TrademarkFollowing on from the unfortunate news last year that Sega had lost the rights to the Shenmue trademark, various sources are now stating that the Japanese company have re-registered the name. While it is yet to be confirmed what Sega have in-store for the iconic game name, our hopes are high for the series' revival.

Needless to say there have been countless theories, rumours and much more surrounding this activity from Sega - most notably hopes of a HD remake of Ryo Hazuki's adventures, or even the final episode in the trilogy.

While this is currently very little to go on, we'll all be waiting in anticipation to see what Sega finally does with the Shenmue name after thirteen years of inactivity. At the same time, don't be surprised to find out that this news could indeed be bogus - it has happened before.

Stay tuned as we keep a close eye on updates regarding Sega's blockbuster series.

Sega obviously want to finish Shenmue up so why not turn to Kickstarter? It has funded such projects before and there is sure to be enough interest in it. I wonder if it's something they have considered?
