In the mid-nineties Sega hoped to release another addition to the their ever-expanding hardware line - The Neptune - a Mega Drive and 32X combined into one. While this may have not materialised, a console modder has picked up where Sega left off and also taken things to the next level by compressing a Mega CD unit into the mix.
The Sega Fusion is the Frankenstein-console creation of the talented modder on YouTube known as Thomas3120. This ultimate 3-in-1 Sega console comes packaged in a modified Sega Saturn shell, making the most of the generously spaced CD tray for Mega CD games, whilst using the rear expansion cartridge slot for both Mega Drive and 32X cartridges.
As Thomas3120 goes on to show, the Sega Fusion works a treat with just about any retro Sega game thrown at it - while at the same time streamlining the process and saving a lot of space on your hardware shelf. Those more interested in the technical side of things can also marvel at the console's innards which are very much detailed and showcased throughout the video.
Unfortunately though, this Sega Fusion remains to a one of a kind console we can only dream of owning.
