Scott Pilgrim & Ramona Flowers Brawl In 'Streets Of Rage 2' ROM Hack

Scott-Pilgrim-Of-Rage-2-ROM-HackNot too long ago we featured a rather unusual ROM hack that placed a the most unlikely of Pokemon heroes into the dark and dingy streets of a 16-bit classic. As it appears, game hackers seem to have Streets of Rage 2 sussed out, so much so they can freely drop in just about any character they please to replace the familiar line up. With that in mind it should come as no surprise that Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers are the latest fighters to take to the streets.

This all new ROM hack takes the already retro looking sprites from the 2010 release Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game and places the two main protagonists into the Mega Drive brawler. Given that the retro-inspired title for modern platforms drew so much inspiration from the likes of Streets of Rage, Final Fight, and countless other vintage video games, Scott Pilgrim's transition back in time feels somewhat natural - aside from the two differences in pixel art style.

While the ROM hack will no doubt only appeal to the curious amongst us, or those looking for a bit more variation to Streets of Rage 2, it's great seeing yet another unexpected alteration to the timeless classic. But this does leave us with one question - when will Axel and Blaze be added into Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game?

As usual, to enjoy this ROM hack you will need to have a legally obtained original Streets of Rage 2 Mega Drive ROM to which you can apply this patch to. Full instructions on how to patch this ROM can be found within the project's thread, or you can refer to this handy ROM patching guide on YouTube.
