Rumor: Soul Reaver to Return to Modern Day Systems?

Raziel1It's always hard being undead, but Raziel's been thought to buried with the last generation of games. Recently, Game Informer confirmed through a website called that a new Soul Reaver game is in the works. So much for staying dead and gone.

The last title that was released was Legacy of Kain: Defiance back in 2003. The games have been fairly steady during the late 90s. However, when Square-Enix took over Crystal Dynamics, the developers of the franchise, they placed the Legacy of Kain games back in their player's deck. While Square-Enix has yet to confirm whether the rumor of Kain and/or Raziel returning is true, Crystal Dynamics did report they are working on a new IP, yet the Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain games are hardly new. Where this information spun out of control, nobody knows. After further examination, there really is a lack of evidence proving the series is making a return.

Here's what we definitely know: a former game producer by the name of Scott Amos jumped ship last year from Visceral Studios (Makers of  such titles as Dead Space) to work with Crystal Dynamics. There were a few people posting in comments on the site that they'd like a Soul Reaver game, but other than a few fans of the series, nothing has really come to light proving that CD is working on this game.

There's been no release of art, and no statements from either CD or Square-Enix.The only shred of proof linking it to these series is an unidentified source reporting to VG247, stating that "our source has claimed the game is a full reworking of the vampire action classic, and includes a new art direction."

Talk to us, RetroCollectees: Would you want another Soul Reaver or Legacy of Kain or Soul Reaver game? If so, which one?
