ROM Of Unreleased Nintendo Game Boy First Person Shooter 'Tyrannosaurus Tex' Released For Download

ROM-Of-Unreleased-Nintendo-Game-Boy-First-Person-Shooter-Tyrannosaurus-Tex-Released-For-DownloadAt the start of the year an unreleased Game Boy Color first person shooter surfaced in cartridge form on eBay - Tyrannosaurus Tex. This unfinished title, created by the now defunct Slitherine Software, had been secured by a lucky bidder with generous intentions: a ROM file of this previously missing in action title has been released for download.

If you happened to miss our previous story on Tyrannosaurus Tex back in January, this unreleased title holds a lot of history regarding Nintendo, the publishing of software and the state of the games industry back in 2001. Controversy aside, Tyrannosaurus Tex was without a doubt one of the most impressive titles to have ever been developed for the 8-bit handheld, alongside the other unfinished feat, Resident Evil.

Prototype collector Nintendo Player recently revealed they were behind the winning bid placed for Tyrannosaurus Tex and have since provided a huge write up on this elusive title - one which includes an interview with Tyrannosaurus Tex's producer Iain McNeill, a full transcript of the game's cutscenes, and all of the never-before-seen background artwork from the final version. Their recent post documents a lot of the history behind this title, along with the issues regarding the preservation of this development cartridge.

As of speaking the ROM of Tyrannosaurus Tex which has been made available for download can only be played using either a Bung Doctor GB flash cartridge, or the freeware Nintendo Game Boy emulator - KiGB.

Excellent! I remember being stoked for this to be released, and I was crushed when I heard it was cancelled. More info than I could ever hope for!
