A tribute to the hugely popular arcade title and Atari 2600 paddlefest known as Warlords has finally arrived on the Commodore 64. Homebrew cartridge extraordinaires RGCD have put together the cartridge release of Space Lords, an updated port of the 1980 classic, which is now available to purchase.
If you're unfamiliar with RGCD for whatever reason, the ever enthusiastic indie game promoters have been slowly releasing a selection of homebrew Commodore 64 software on cartridge over the last few years. Their incredibly professional packages look fantastic in any games collection and often come bundled with a selection of bonuses such as stickers - Space Lords being no different.
The idea behind Space Lords (or Warlords) is fairly simple, yet difficult to master: a four player version of Breakout to which you must defend your fort from the onslaught of 'pong' attacks. Careful movements and deflections will slowly break down enemy bases, leaving their vital hot spot open to blast them out of the round.
Addictive action should you have a group of retro gamers at the ready!
