RetroZone rolls out Super Mario Bros 2: Lost Levels & Splatterhouse NES Reproductions

Super-Mario-Bros-2-J-Reproduction-CartridgeRetroUSB has recently announced that its reproduction cartridge of Super Mario Bros 2: The Lost Levels is now available. The long lost sequel to the original SMB, deemed too hard for the Western audiences can finally be enjoyed in your Nintendo NES.

If you've played Super Mario All-Stars on the Super Nintendo, you may have already spent a bit of time with The Lost Levels and witnessed its difficulty. The game that Western audiences were given instead was a re-branded version of a Famicom Disk System game called Doki Doki Panic, but that is a story for another time...

Alongside this recent release by RetroUSB comes two more interesting additions to their selection of reproductions.

Firstly another Mario game has been added to the line up; VS. Super Mario Bros, the ultimate challenge for Mario gamers. If you thought the Lost Levels was a challenge, try take on this version of the original game that was made for arcade machines running the Nintendo Versus Arcade system. This version features a different order to the levels, the occasional Lost Levels stage making an apperance and much less Mushrooms and Stars to help you on your way. Only the hardcore need apply.

And last but not least, a reproduction of the fantastic Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti (aka Splatterhouse SD). An often talked about Nintendo Famicom gem that didn't see release outside of Japan. Taking the original Splatterhouse game and turning it into a chibi style NES platformer, you can't go wrong!

Should any of these take your fancy, Super Mario Bros: Lost Levels & Splatterhouse are priced up at $40 each and Vs Super Mario Bros at $50. All carts come in a lovely different colour with full colour labels, a great addition to any collection.
