Retronauts interview Tengen Programming Veterans

RetronautsTengenFrank Cifaldi of The Lost Levels and Retronauts, got the chance to sit down and interview three ex-Tengen developers. Asking them questions regarding the rebellious unlicensed Nintendo NES days, this podcast is well worth a listen.

I had the honor yesterday of not only hosting my first Retronauts, but of speaking to three veteran programmers from the glory days of Tengen, the rebellious home cartridge division of Atari Games that was making games for the NES without approval from Nintendo.

From left to right, Franz Lanzinger (Toobin', Ms. Pac-Man), Steve Woita (Super Sprint, Police Academy) and Mark Morris (Hard Drivin', 007: License to Kill) discussed the environment at Atari Games in the late 80s and early 90s, programming techniques of the time, the spirit of independent game development, and many more topics that may or may not have had anything to do with Tengen!
