Retrode 2 - USB Based Retro Gaming Emulation And Preservation Tool Gearing For December Release

Retrode-2---USB-Based-Retro-Gaming-Emulation-And-Preservation-Tool-Gearing-For-December-ReleaseAs if cash wasn't tight enough around the Christmas month, the Retrode team are ready to unleash further debt upon the retro gaming world. The revised version of the Retrode featuring all new control pads ports which will be compatible with our favourite emulators, will hopefully be set for a mid-December release.

Matthias Hullin, the mastermind behind the ultimate retro gaming USB device recently published more pictures of the finished product on the Retrode homepage. Arriving in a slick black case, armed with dual Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo control pad ports, emulation is never going to be the same again.

While we've covered the Retrode many times before, those only just reading up on this fantastic device should take note of the incredible features within. Here is a quick recap for those curious:

  • Cartridge slots for Sega Genesis/MD and Nintendo SNES/SFC games. Access ROM (program/data) and SRAM (savegames)!
  • 2×2 ports for Sega and SNES controllers.
  • Driverless operation under any OS, using any emulator.
  • Easy to use, configure and update.
  • Expandable using plug-in adapters.
  • Dimensions and weight: 162mm x 80mm x 42mm, 200g (6.4″ x 3.2″ x 1.7″, 0.4lbs)
  • Includes USB cable and instruction sheet.
  • Suggested retail price: EUR 65 / USD 80.

That's right- you'll be able to make ROM backups of all your favourite retro games, while also archiving your precious save games before the on-board batteries run out. Get your RPGs ready!

If you haven't pre-ordered the Retrode 2, Matthias is planning for the remaining units to go on sale once the pre-ordered units have been shipped.
