After adding the US SNES list in our last update, it is now time to finally add its older sibling as well. Welcome the NES to our database. But that's not all, we have also added four new systems to the database, including our most modern addition yet, the PlayStation Portable. Read further to discover what else was added.
As mentioned, the big newcomer to our database is the PlayStation Portable. While there are currently three more games announced for it, we felt it was time to add it to our site. You certainly felt the same as countless requests for its addition prove. Another much-requested platform that's decidedly more retro also makes its way into this update, the Philips CD-i. Yes, now you can finally add all your favorite FMV titles and those lovely Zelda games as well. The other systems in this update will please fans of obscure handhelds as the Gamate and Supervision find their way onto RetroCollect.
So much for the new platforms, but as mentioned in the intro, the time has finally come for America's most-beloved console, the NES. This is certainly great news for our American users, but also for the European ones who can finally add US-exclusive imports like Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Mega Man 6, Tecmo Super Bowl or Tengen Tetris to their collections.
And last but not least, we also discovered a new game for one of our existing platforms, the Nintendo Game Boy. FCI quietly released Boxxle II in Germany and should you own this rarity you can now add it to your collection.
That's it for today folks, look forward to our next update featuring even more import sections and hopefully a couple of new platforms (3DO? Pico? WonderSwan? who knows!).
There's one final note for the CD-i fans out there though. You might be wondering how we decided what to add to the database and what to exclude. Well, it is pretty easy actually. On multimedia platforms like the CD-i or PC, we include everything that is or contains a game. So, every boxed release that has a trivia game on it qualifies just like Zelda's Adventure does. Please note though that there were certain titles we just could not confirm or get any idea as to whether or not they contain a small game or not. So it is quite possible that existing games are still missing. If you have something that's missing, please let us know in the forum so we can add it in the next update.
