RetroCollect's Nintendo 64 Collecting Guide in Retro Gamer Issue #87

RetroCollect-Nintendo-64-Collecting-Guide-in-Retro-GamerJust days after RetroCollect opened it's e-doors, Retro Gamer Magazine got in touch regarding an upcoming article idea. Hoping to make the most of our expertise and rarity guides, Retro Gamer set RetroCollect an ambitious gaming task.

That task was none other than to put together a comprehensive introduction (accompanied by a RetroCollect rarity guide) as to why the Nintendo 64 is a fantastic machine to build a collection for. Their aim which is now being fulfilled, was to make a regular feature taking a look at collecting for a different platform each month. With the N64 up first, it was our job to get the ball rolling.

As soon as the request came though, the team were busy at work. With a selection of us digging through personal collections, reciting past experiences, furthering research and documenting obscure releases. Our main aim was to make sure what we submitted to the magazine gave a true insight into the ins and outs of collecting for the Nintendo 64.

With 242 releases in PAL regions for the Nintendo 64, there was more than enough to be discussing before we even touched upon imports and accessories. As we continued our documentation of the N64, we managed to surprise many with some rather unexpected rarities and interesting titles. Ones best left unsaid until you pick up the magazine this month.

Darran of Retro Gamer Magazine recently posted up a quick flick through of the magazine on his YouTube channel. To see a sneak peek of the collecting guide for the N64, head to the 01:55 mark in the video below:

So be sure to pick up Retro Gamer Magazine this month, as it's out today (although we haven't received ours yet). Alongside the introduction article and rarity guide provided by RetroCollect are some other fantastic articles/interviews and insights into collecting for the Nintendo 64, making it well worth picking up.

Should you already have the magazine or be reading it rather soon, we would love to hear your thoughts in the forum.

That rarity list is a great thing to have on paper - in the past I've briefly considered getting into the N64, now I know that most of the games I'd be wanting to play on it are within the realms of the "common" - which is a big bonus!

Yeah, great stuff, well done :D
