RetroCollect's Game Database & Rarity Guides December 2011 Update

RetroCollect-Game-Database-and-Rarity-Guides-December-2011-UpdateContinuing our quest to provide the most comprehensive and accurate retro game rarity guides online, RetroCollect has just rolled out an update bringing another 7 complete PAL release lists to the fray. New arrivals include the Atari 5200, 7800, Jaguar CD, LynxCBS Colecovision, Hartung Game Master and Mattel Intellivision.

These new additions are only the beginning of our planned updates for the coming months. Taking the preliminary steps towards introducing the most wanted import release lists to the retro game collection tracker, we will next be updating the existing templates to allow the tracking of individual variants within individual games.

This will soon allow the most diehard collectors out there to showcase how many of those different versions of Super Mario World they own, or if they're lucky enough to own the likes of the blue box World Championship Soccer II for the Sega Mega Drive.

Without revealing too much more of the planned updates, we will hopefully be introducing the much needed arrival of what we're dubbing 'CIB Collection Tracking'. Should you be wanting to dive into the deep end of our collection tracker and track whether or not you own the box or manual to accompany your cartridges, you'll soon be able to do so.

But enough about that for now! Here is the full list of updates which have recently hit the RetroCollect Game Database.

Thanks guys. Please let us know if there are still games missing. Everything reported should be there but you never know. The update should please the Atari fans :) Only the 2600 left in that department which is coincidentally the biggest gap along with the PS2.

I'm pretty sure Actua Pool (PS1) is a variation of Pool: Shark, just with a different name on the cover. If I remember right it got a "Zoo Classics" release in the UK & a normal release outside the UK, but it's practically the same game as Pool: Shark inside. Hope this helps out a bit?

Fantastic! I've been wanting an accurate list for the lynx for ages. There's tons of stuff that i'm not sure actually got realeased and i heading straight over to look at those telegames ones now! Oh dear, this is gonna make me want to pick up where i left off on my lynx collection.

....and finally, i can stop searching for bloody Fat Bobby on the lynx! Loads of lists say that it exists but i have never seen one before ever.

Fat Bobby does exist but it's an Aftermarket release by Telegames and those haven't been included in the database yet. It wasn't sold in the regular cardboard boxes but rather in a cd style jewel case.

@Tinsair

I'll look into that, thanks

I've got 2 x Intellivision games that are not on the list.

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Treasure of Tarmin

I've added my Colecovision; Intellivision; Atarti 5200 & 7800; Lynx and Jaguar CD games this evening and these were the only 2 games I came across that I have that I was not able to add. Also added Lakers Vs Celtics for the Mega Drive ;-)
Cheers for all your hard work in making this happen - the sites just getting better and better

Those are US games, the list is currently Europe only :)

Great stuff! Any news on whether a 3DO listing is anywhere near happening? It's a pain trying to work out which games were released in the UK and which were in the US since I've come across imports with BBFC ratings stickers slapped on US boxes and US games missing the big outer box which look like EU jewel case games. I don't collect seriously but I like to have the EU versions if possible.

Anyway, thanks for another great update.

Difficult topic. Yes, I've dabbled in 3DO but as you say it's hard to distinguish EU and US games. I discussed this with 3DO collectors and it seems like having a "World" region is the way to go. Which is what happened with the Jaguar and Lynx too. What this means for you is that, unfortunately, once the 3DO list goes online it will be a worldwide list most likely. And it won't yet have the variants added to it, meaning you still won't be able to tell which games got a real EU box :( This will have to come over time I'm afraid.

Thanks. Will have to investigate the Hockey game but the others were known to me (as you know I even considered buying Robinson!), I simply forgot about them again :( Will add these to the next update.
