Retro Book Publishers Read Only Memory Launch 'The Bitmap Brothers: Universe' Kickstarter

The-Bitmap-Brothers-UniverseIf you owned either a Mega Drive or Commodore Amiga in the nineties, chances are you experienced and loved the output of British developer The Bitmap Brothers. From the Chaos Engine to Speedball 2, the prolific studio produced countless hits one after the other - and that's something retro gaming book publishers Read Only Memory are hoping to immortalise. Having already extensively covered both Sensible Software and Sega's 16-bit console in book form, Read Only Memory have once again turned to Kickstarter to help fund The Bitmap Brothers: Universe.

Project curator Darren Wall is once again heading up this operation, looking to raise £40,000 within the next month to secure the future of Read Only Memory's latest project. Once again promising neverbefore-seen concept artwork and archive material, we can already guarantee that The Bitmap Brothers: Universe is one book you don't want to miss out on. Going from the Kickstarter page alone, there's already an impressive selection of stills and shots on offer, from early concepts of Speedball 2 and snaps of the unreleased Chaos Engine 3D game.

Elsewhere in the book you can expect to get a real feel for what went on behind the scenes with interviews from the likes of Mark Coleman (Artist - Speedball, Xenon 2: Megablast, Magic Pockets), and Sean Griffiths (Programmer - Cadaver, Magic Pockets) amongst many others too. All of this is set to be laid out over 300 pages of content in hardback, and if it's anything similar to The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works, it's going to be fantastic.;

Those interested in securing a copy should head on over to Kickstarter now. For a £30 pledge you can secure your copy of The Bitmap Brothers: Universe today, while more generous donations will guarantee other rewards such as autographed copies and art prints.
