Fans of Gunstar Heroes, keep reading. Metalgun Slinger for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance is a Japanese exclusive hidden gem. Bringing the Run 'n' Gun genre to the Wild West, Metalgun Slinger is a must have title.
Metalgun Slinger was developer and published by Atmark back in 2002. It had a fairly quiet release in Japan and has yet to make an impact on Retro Gamers in the West. We can safely say, that once the addictiveness of this title becomes familiar, the value of Metalgun Slinger is sure to shoot up.
Bursting open with a traditional Anime intro song, you know you're due for some traditional Japanese gaming. While the first section the game's introduction will leave you wondering about Language options, it's all text-free gameplay from there on.
Featuring gameplay similar to Contra, Gunstar Heroes and even Super Metroid; Metalgun Slinger follows the Run 'n' Gun genre we're very fond of. New introductions to this genre are made, such as the ability to chain moves and tricks together, to rack up the points and grades awarded at the end of the stage. The levels are very well designed and overall the game feels very solid.
Currently Play-Asia has Metalgun Slinger in stock and on sale, RetroCollect highly recommends you consider picking it up if you have some spare cash lying around, as it's a purchase you won't regret.
