Recently Released 'Analogue Super NT' SNES Console Gets Jailbroken Firmware Already

Analogue-Super-NT-Hacked-Firmware-ReleaseWhile the Analogue Super NT may have only just hit the virtual shelves of online retailers, retro developers have already found a method to unlock the system's true potential. Although an early release, the Super NT Jailbreak now allows the booting of Super Nintendo ROMs from SD card, along with holding plenty of potential further down the line for additional FPGA cores.

Released via Github earlier today accompanied by the message 'Happy Valentine's Day', the Super NT Jailbreak arrives as a downloadable patch for the console. By simply placing the jailbroken firmware file (.bin) onto the SD card, you'll be able to update to this unofficial release with ease.

Once installed you'll be able to access any Super Nintendo ROMs you have placed onto the SD card, as long as they're within a folder titled SNES. Currently the unofficial firmware supports around 300-500 different ROMs in a single folder, all of which you can access through the newly added menu option on the system's UI labelled browse SD card. The release documentation for this jailbreak also lists SNES/SFC under 'Supported Cores', so don't be surprised if this new console is soon running games from other consoles too.

What makes this 'jailbreak' rather interesting though is that speculation suggests this may have come directly from official sources due to the bundled Super Turrican software remaining intact in this unofficial release.
