First party Nintendo prototypes are something you don't see very often. Arriving as a late Christmas present is an prototype of the first Legend of Zelda game from a white label Famicom Disk, which can now be downloaded.
The prototype was recently released on the Lost Levels forum, a forum dedicated to the preservation of unreleased games. Their latest release arrived mid-afternoon on Christmas day as a very welcome late present to us all.
The Legend Of Zelda was originally released in Japan in February 1986 for the Famicom Disk System before arriving in Europe in November 1987 on a gold cartridge for the Nintendo NES. This prototype is an early build of the Famicom Disk System version, featuring many different rooms and changes from the retail version. A potential goldmine for Zelda and prototype fans worldwide. The full list of known changes has been documented at TCRF in a wiki.
So if you feel in need of another Christmas present or have time to spare on Boxing day, head over to the official release thread and download the Legend Of Zelda prototype now.
