Prototype Atari Jaguar 2 Console appears on eBay

Atari-Jaguar-2-Prototype-Hardware-on-eBayIn the dying days of the Jaguar, Atari decided to begin work on a follow up to the failed system. Codenamed 'Midsummer', the console got no further than the development stages. Seeing just two prototype consoles survive the project, one of them has just surfaced on eBay.

The short lived development of the Atari Jaguar 2 saw the arrival of new chips requiring their own cooling fans, backwards compatibility with the existing Atari Jaguar library and many other features in the pipeline. Following on from this recent failure, Atari filed for bankruptcy in 1998 liquidating the remaining stock of Atari Lynx and Jaguar games.

As we know gaming history is priceless to the right collector. Currently sat on eBay with the Buy It Now price of $5,000, this is an item for the most hardcore fans around. More interestingly, the seller seems to be clearing out his entire collection of Atari Jaguar items, with various prototypes, homebrew releases and even more development hardware.

Next up, a landfill of Atari game cartridges on eBay?!

The asking prices are way to high. The seller is a well known Jaguar collector, but his prices are ridiculous.
