Prolific Retro Game Developer 'Eurocom' Shuts Its Doors

Prolific-Retro-Game-Developer-Eurocom-Shuts-Its-DoorsSince founding in 1988, Eurocom created countless video games over the years that we've all grown to love - most notably its arcade to console ports such as Hydro Thunder and Mortal Kombat 4. Sadly though, as a result of dwindling game sales, the Derbyshire based developer is no more.

As of the 6th December, Eurocom now join the likes of Psygnosis as being iconic developers who helped cement the foundations of the British video game industry. While their more recent output on the Nintendo 64 was probably its most memorable, Eurocom did create a handful of older titles you've no doubt dabbled in. One of their first releases was James Bond Jr on the Nintendo NES, one of the hardest, albeit most enjoyable games available on the 8-bit system.

Throughout the years Eurocom found themselves mainly porting notable releases onto different consoles. Sensible Soccer onto the Game Gear, Earthworm Jim to the Game Boy, Duke Nukem to the Nintendo 64, Rodland to the Game Boy. While they didn't create a great deal of unique titles, the work of Eurocom will forever be remembered due to its impressive porting skills - which gifted gamers with a single system back in the day the chance to enjoy the classics.

So raise your control pads to another now defunct developer which has no doubt had an influence on you since 1988.
