Project Y - New Sega Mega Drive Beat 'Em Up In Development By WaterMelon, The Team Behind Pier Solar

Project-Y-New-Sega-Mega-Drive-Beat-Em-Up-In-Development-By-Team-Behind-Pier-Solar-WaterMelonWith Pier Solar, the stunning 40meg Sega Mega Drive RPG, behind them WaterMelon are setting their sights on pastures new. Project Y is their upcoming Beat 'Em Up with RPG elements due to hit Sega's 16-bit console next year. The development process of this fighter is one you'll want to watch, set to bring a whole new meaning to the term homebrew.

Project Y of WaterMelon's recently opened Magical Game Factory is giving fans and retro gamers the chance to decide how this new release should play. Throughout the development process gamers can vote on polls being run on the game's project page to influence decisions which will dictate how the game materialises.

While the game is not due for release till next August, Watermelon have opened up pre-orders in the style of a Kickstarter projects. Investors, as the early adopters are being dubbed, have the chance to not only secure their copy of the game but also the option to be credited in the game's code.

Hang on a sec, are we talking beat 'em up as in y'know, a beat 'em up (Streets of Rage) or are we using the term Euro-style and meaning a Vs fighter like Street Fighter 2? The former and action games with RPG elements are pretty much my favourite game types, so if it is a la Streets of Rage I may have to marry the WaterMelon peeps. Restrain me pl0x :
