Previously Unseen Footage Of The Cancelled Primal Rage II Arcade Game Surfaces On YouTube

Previously-Unseen-Footage-Of-The-Cancelled-Primal-Rage-II-Arcade-Game-Surfaces-On-YouTubeA sequel to the highly detailed two dimensional fighter from 1994 known as Primal Rage was in development in 1995. Sadly Atari was concerned that the game would not generate enough interest nor sales, leading them to pull the plug on Primal Rage II - leaving it to remain unseen at least until now...

The new footage of the game in action funnily enough has been provided by a former Atari engineer. A working game board and accompanying hard drive for Primal Rage II has laid dormant and untouched within his storage for the last few decades. Not only has this engineer revealed one of the most anticipated cancelled arcade fighters of all time, but also confirmed that a full backup of the game has been made.

Whether or not the ROM of this Primal Rage II prototype will be released is yet to be known, however, plenty more about the game has been uncovered. According to the engineer, Primal Rage II was due to be run from modified PlayStation hardware providing more enhanced visuals. The Primal Rage sequel was also due to feature human fighters instead of the original dinosaur line-up. The unusual plot change, however, is one detailed further in the Primal Rage graphic novel, Primal Rage: The Avatars.
