Pokemon Blue & Super Game Boy Merged Into One SNES Cart

Pokemon-Blue-Super-Game-Boy-ModificationWhile the main purpose of the Super Game Boy is to provide access to a library of portable titles on the big screen, there are the occasional few releases you could argue deserved Super Nintendo ports. With this in mind, one retro gamer decided to gift Pokemon Blue a 16-bit release by merging the Super Nintendo accessory and Game Boy cartridge.

Having dissected the Super Game Boy and removed the cartridge slot, Reddit user mmmstephen directly soldered the 1998 RPG onto the accessory. After ensuring his many solder points were working as intended, this modified adapter was then moved into a standard Super Nintendo game cartridge shell, with the Pokemon Blue board also contained within.

Although you could argue that this entire process is nothing more than a useless modification, seeing a frankensteined Pokemon Blue cased in a standard SNES cartridge is rather impressive. While we don’t expect to see many more mods like it, there’s something desirable about an unofficial 16-bit Game Boy release.

Nice, but would be cooler if he used an SGB2 as base. This way it would be still possible to trade
