Playing Thirteen Connected Sonic & Knuckles Cartridges At Once On The Mega Drive

13-Sonic-and-Knuckles-Cartridges-Connected-TogetherWe've all seen those images online of countless Sonic & Knuckles cartridges bolted together into a Mega Drive skyscraper - but what happens if you actually attempt to play the game this way? One gamer has done just this and recorded snippets of the process which produce surprising results.

The most interesting aspect to the fabled 'Sega Tower of Power' is that it actually works once power is supplied to the 16-bit console. Brandon Sheffield of Gamasutra’s experimentation found that with just a few copies of the game connected together, Sonic & Knuckles worked perfectly fine albeit with few issues.

Things get even more interesting though once more copies of the 1994 platformer were thrown into the mix - thirteen to be precise! Various graphical and gameplay glitches started to arrive, along with broken audio and the unexpected sight of the 'No Way’ messaging appearing after pressing start at the title screen.

Needless to say it’s fantastic finally knowing what the Sega Tower of Power can do, even if it is unplayable at times.
