Play Sega Game Gear games on your TV

TVOutGameGearIf you have ever wanted to play your Sega Game Gear games via a TV Out connection, you're in luck. An online shop is offering a fit-yourself-chip to upgrade your Game Gear.

Mash Mods has long offered many handheld upgrades. Their completely sold out frontlight modification service has been breathing new life into old handhelds since launch. However they still have the required chip to upgrade your Game Gear available.

Unlike the Game Gear being able to play Sega Master System games via a converter, the more advanced Game Gear games cannot be played back on a Sega Master System. This is due to the Game Gear games using many more colors than the Master System can produce.

The chip offered by Mash Mods allows a TV Out port to be attached to your Game Gear, but it's worth noting that the video output is in black and white.

However, if your soldering skills are a bit more advanced and you feel like a challenge, you can get your Game Gear to output a full color, RGB signal. Be warned though, this guide requires a lot of patience and a custom board.
