Pier Solar is now being shipped in time for Christmas

Pier-Solar-Now-ShippingAfter a long two year wait due to various issues, the brand new homebrew Sega Mega Drive RPG titled Pier Solar, is now shipping in time for Christmas. Sega Mega Drive fans, prepare yourself!

The project which started off as Tavern RPG has taken various turns in development, which eventually grew into the might that is Pier Solar. With various teaser videos, demo ROMs and audio clips, we have been anticipating its release since day one. After various vague updates and impatient forum activity, retro gamers began to accept that Pier Solar might never be released. Despite pre-order payments being taken well in advance, most decided to just hold on 'a little longer' for this fateful day.

Watermelon Team recently updated their website to prepare for more orders and left the following update (on their old website which has now disappeared) to prepare gamers for the new game appearing on their doorstep.

Well as you may have seen over on our FaceBook page something is indeed stirring!

It seems Pier Solar won't have an "official" release date; instead it'll be left to one of you folk to shout up and spread the joyous news when you receive your copy in the post...

When will shipping actually start? This is still surrounded in mystery but it'll be soon I know that much!

I guess this new entry answers all the emails I keep receiving that ask "When is the release date?"

Ta Ta for Now!

So may the race to recieving Pier Solar first now begin! In the meantime, go give your thanks to Watermelon Games in advance for the game arriving on your doorstep. And if you haven't ordered the game yet, head over to the official site now and place your order.

I'm in kind of two minds about this. It does look awesome, but I bought Beggar Prince when it originally came out and ended up selling it as I found it quite boring and repetitive. At around $50AU I'm not sure about jumping in to buy it. I really want to support these guys, but I don't want to have the same experience as with Beggar.

Pier Solar is a completely new game, where Beggar Prince was a translation of an old Chinese exclusive game. I wouldn't compare the two directly, but if you're still unsure, we will be reviewing it as soon as it arrives.
