Pickford Brothers' Super Nintendo Cult Platformer Hero 'Plok' Returns In Comic Strip Form

Plok-ComicIn many people’s lists of unappreciated 16-bit platformers the Pickford brother’s Plok for the SNES is usually near the top. Or at least, it should be. A sequel for the 1993 title’s loose limbed hero never arrived though, despite some screenshots of a 3D follow up floating around online. Ste Pickford, artist and co-writer of the game, explained that the fan demand for more Plok – in any form – was impossible to ignore.

We are constantly being bombarded with fan-mail requests to bring back Plok, with people asking us to make a sequel or to re-release the SNES game on Wii Virtual Console, 3DS, iOS, etc,” he said. “We've wanted to revisit Plok for a long time, and we eventually decided that a regular comic strip would be a great way to re-introduce Plok to the world.

So it may not be the new game fans have been praying for, but it’s a start - and who knows where the comic strip will lead if it turns out to be a success. The first strip – which has a playful poke at the Pickford’s work that has been released since Plok – is available to view here.

Future entries, which are going to be released regularly, are promised to include existing characters from the game as well as all new ones. Now just set up the soundtrack from the Follin Brothers to play in the background while you read them and you’re all set...
