Pac-Man Museum, With 9 Pac-Games, Now Available for XBLA/PSN/Steam

Namco Museum may not be open these days, but Namco's still in the curation business, with a new digital download collection, Pac-Man Museum, gathering together some of Pac-Man's best hits, available from today.

Released on the Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam services and available now (except for European PS3 owners, it's not there just yet), Pac-Man Museum gathers together 9 Pac-Man games, including...

Pac-Man (1980)
Super Pac-Man (1981)
Pac & Pal (1983)
Pac-Land (1984)
Pac-Mania (1985)
Pac-Attack (1993)
Pac-Man Arrangement (PSP version - 2005)
Pac-Man Championship Edition (2007)
Pac-Man Battle Royale (2011)

Additionally, Ms. Pac-Man (1981) is a free extra download until March 31st.

As this is Namco we're talking about (or Bandai Namco these days), many of these have been ported to various consoles before- Pac-Land and Pac & Pal probably less so than the others- and the stranger Pac-Man games made by Bally Midway (Pac-Man Plus, Pac-Man Jr.)  are obviously abent, but Pac-Man Battle Royale is probably the most notable inclusion here. Confined to the arcades until now, Battle Royale is a competitive spin on Pac-Man, where players battle for supremacy- grabbing a Power Pellet here not only lets you eat the ghosts patrolling the maze, but the other players too! Last Pac standing wins! However, it looks like there's no online multiplayer included, which is a real shame, as a game like that would really benefit from it. Other features include leaderboards and a room you can furnish with items (mostly based on the new Pac-Man cartoon series, it seems) earned by playing the games.

Sadly, Nintendo fans are left out- 3DS and Wii U eShop versions were planned, but subsequently cancelled. You'll have to make do with the Game Boy Advance Pac-Man Collection- on the plus side, it's got the 90s Pac-Man Arrangement on there that this collection's missing! That's something, right?

Game Trailer:

Pac-Man Museum is available on Xbox Live Arcade, Steam and Playstation Network (PS3, US only at this very moment) for £14.99/$19.99€19.99, except it's £15.99 on UK Xbox Live.

Wait, what do I put in this box again? Oh, it's about me. I like playing weird and unusual games- the sort you're likely to forget about- and I hope you like reading about them because they're what I write about. And game trivia too. Please look forward to it!

Maybe the Wii U version was cancelled so it can get a version including Pac Man Vs., which is a game the system is a perfect fit for. Well, a guy can dream anyway...
