While Krikzz and the many other flash cartridge manufactuers have producing all in one solutions to enjoy every game ever released for various consoles on one cartridge, where does this leave arcade gamers? Although there have been 'Multigame' solutions available for some time, none have quite offered the openness that gamers have desired. That is all about to change with openJAMMA.
openJAMMA is an all new open source JAMMA compliant arcade board. Running from an on-board SD card, coin-op gamers will now have quick access to a wide selection of MAME arcade games of their choice. The openJAMMA board will be able to output a VGA signal for the original CRT monitor based arcade machines, while the more modern alternatives can make use of the accompanying HDMI slot.
The device is also set to feature enough power to run a wide majority of coin-op classics. Harbouring a ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 1Ghz CPU with Graphics accelerator, 4G NAND flash for OS and 1G RAM, you can be sure this open source solution won't be leaving your arcade machine any time soon.
