Omega Set To Glamourise Neo-Geo MVS Games With Replacement Cartridge Shells Via Kickstarter

Omega-Set-To-Glamourise-Neo-Geo-MVS-Games-With-Replacement-Cartridge-Shells-Via-KickstarterFor most retro gamers on a budget, the Neo Geo MVS offers a cost effective entry into the wonderful world of SNK. While these titles may be cheaper, they are also lacking in the art department in comparison to their Neo Geo AES siblings. Omega hopes to fix this with a newly launched Kickstarter set to gift MVS cartridges some new housing.

Truth be told the Neo Geo MVS arcade set-up was never intended to be a solution to playing SNK's hits at home. But looking back at how many more MVS titles were produced in comparison to their rare AES counterparts, it is no wonder so many widely produced solutions such as consolized MVS game systems exist today.

The main downside for those using these new-found answers to SNK gaming is that they miss out on stunning box art, glossy cartridge labels and those timeless shockboxes that AES gamers can gloat over. This is somewhat understandable though, given that MVS gamers were never intended to be seen, hidden away inside the Neo Geo arcade machines we grew top love.

Should Omega receive their required amount on Kickstarter, a whole host of new MVS cartridge shells will become available - and of course you'll secure some for yourself should you back the crowdfunding attempt. To further sweeten the deal, those interested can further replicate the style guru known as the AES with fan-made shockboxes, already available at Southtown Homebrew.

Although this is a cool project, I don't see it catching fire beyond a small community... I hope they can get funding somewhere outside of Kickstarter...
