The Sony PlayStation classic Abe’s Oddysee is currently getting the HD remake treatment thanks to UK based studio Just Add Water. While Oddworld Inhabitants have been rather tight lipped about Abe's revival up until now, gameplay footage of the remake was demonstrated at Eurogamer Expo the other day giving retro gamers something to drool over.
To say the game has been completely revamped would be somewhat unfair. Looking back at the 1997 classic, it has held up incredibly well and still looks fantastic today in comparison to the majority of dated polygon based PlayStation 1 adventures. The pre-rendered Oddworld visuals and locations were a lovely touch, but getting the chance to relive the experience them once more in high definition is something we won't turn down.
Just Add Water's take on Abe’s Oddysee, now known as Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'N' Tasty, looks incredible and even gives the king of paralax scrolling 'Shadow of the Beast' a run for its title. The level of detail is without a doubt stunning, but more importantly the gameplay and physics from the original game seems to be intact - exactly how we like our retro game remakes.
