Ocean's Isometric Platformer 'Batman' Set For MSX2 Remake

MSX2-Remake-of-Ocean-BatmanIn the mid-eighties, isometric platforming adventures were all the rage. Ultimate Play The Game made a name for themselves through titles such as Alien 8 and Knight Lore, whilst other developers churned out classics like Head Over Heels. This trend then made its way into licensed tie-ins, with the superhero Batman soon stepping into the 3D world. As great as the caped-crusader's 8-bit journey was, retro developers have since decided to give the 1986 classic a good kapow into 2014 with an all new and colourful MSX2 port.

If you can remember Ocean's home computer isometric adventure, like many others in the genre, the graphics were somewhat limited due to the now dated hardware. Nevertheless we all have fond memories of these platformers, despite many of them requiring pixel perfect estimations on tight jump and awkward angles.

These good times are no doubt soon to return though as homebrew developers AAMSX Associació d'Amics del MSX have begun resculpting the game for the more powerful MSX2 hardware. Their recently uploaded video trailer of the Batman remake showcases the original game's - now dull - single colour screenshots, shortly before revealing some stunning new visuals.

This vibrant remake of Ocean's MSX outing isn't due to be released until December, so we'll be counting down the days until we can once again rescue Robin and recover the Batcraft parts.
