Similar to the 3D retouching of Excitebike and Urban Champion, Kid Icarus will be the next Nintendo NES game to receive the updated treatment. As of the 5th January, Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to download the remake of the 1986 classic after registering two Club Nintendo codes from selected games.
Out of all the Nintendo mascots and figureheads, Kid Icarus has by far been the most neglected of them all. While Kid Icarus Uprising is set to be released sometime in the near future, the series has taken over twenty years to reemerge since his forgotten debut on the Game Boy in 1991 with Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters.
The 3D Classics remake arriving early next year can be claimed once you have registered two Club Nintendo codes from any of the games listed below:
- Dead or Alive Dimensions
- Mario Kart 7
- Nintendogs + cats
- Pilotwings Resort
- Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
- Resident Evil: Revelations
- Star Fox 64 3D
- Steel Diver
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Super Pokémon Rumble
- Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
- Tetris
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
But should you need convincing to give up your mint and complete copies of your Nintendo 3DS games by scratching off these codes, here is a gameplay video showcasing the upcoming downloadable title.

"the series has taken over twenty years to reemerge since his forgotten debut on the Game Boy in 1991 with Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters."
do you mean debut on handheld?
since the original came out in 1986, I'd say that was his debut, per definition?
sorry if it comes off as a stupid question, it just seems like an odd phrase to me
other than that, it looks neat; and I hope that they'll remake the Gameboy version as well (I've got both original, but haven't made it through the GB version yet)
happy to see Kid Icarus getting some attention, apart from the 3D game that is to be released (which I am less than impressed by)
