Although Capcom’s long-lasting platform series Mega Man has stood the test of time, we’ve often wondered how the blue bomber would fare in a Super Mario All-Stars style remake. While there may already be the chibi Mega Man Powered Up on offer for the Sony PlayStation Portable, one fan of the series has taken the game back to its roots and produced a graphical enhancement pack for the Nintendo NES original.
Dubbed Mega Man Redux, this all new ROM hack for the US version of the game takes everything we know and love about the 1987 classic and introduces much more detailed sprites and environments. While the look and feel might not be to everyone’s tastes, this updated hack of the game brings along shaded visuals and an added depth never seen before with Capcom’s franchise on the 8-bit platform.
For those of you interested in having another blast through Mega Man - all whilst pushing the Nintendo NES’s PPU to its limits - be sure to check out Mega Man Redux. The ROM hack can be downloaded and applied to a US version of the game’s ROM, with full instructions on how available in the patch.
