Retroactive's Nintendo 64 Flash Card 64drive Nearing Completion

64drive-another-Nintendo-64-Flash-CardWith the Everdrive 64 completely sold out and back-ordered on countless online stores, the arrival of Krikzz's rival flash card will come as good news to those wanting their fix of Nintendo 64 ROMs. The team behind the upcoming 64drive have hinted that their new device may be available within a matter of weeks.

The 64drive team's latest email update not only suggested release may be nearing, but also featured plenty of information for those looking to code their own Nintendo 64 games. The creator known as marshallh has stated that those interested can get hold of the required information to get going with development on the 64drive.

As we await the next update which will hopefully bring the news of the 64drive's arrival, here is the update along with a sneak peek video of the device's features.

The 64drive release is nearing!

It all started as a "what if"... if I could have anything for my N64, what would be it be?No restrictions on cost, no cheaping out on features. For once, a clean and polishedproduct with good aesthetic sense.

Tinkering with the N64 has been my foremost hobby for more than 5 years now. I lovepretty much everything about it, not just the games but the system and its hardware. This has given me a unique opportunity to create something for N64 lovers using myaccumulated knowledge and skill.

The project itself is coming very near to a releasable state. I just released a video onYouTube a few days ago.

In addition to being an enticing item for collectors, the 64drive is an extremelyversatile tool for coding. Its USB 2.0 capabilities alone already eclipse any other N64"backup" product ever made, and that's just the start.

One the 64drive launches I will release a detailed PDF document giving specificinformation on the cartridge's hardware design and how to write code to use itsfeatures, including access of the USB functionality and memory card. A debugging LEDand button come on each board standard.
As far as release goes, the first units will be sold in the coming weeks. I will be sendingout updates as the day approaches.

Thank you all for showing your support, and giving me the encouragement to developthis amazing product.
