Where emulation is concerned, we're spoilt for choice. If we're not using the original hardware, we can get our fix on our laptops, mobile phones, tablets and even dedicated devices. Emulation is really begining to excel on Android based devices now, with the Archos Gamepad set to pick up where the Sony Xperia Play left off.
If you missed our initial update regarding the Archos Gamepad and why you should be interested in such a device, be sure to take a look at our guide to retro gaming emulation on Android based hardware. The 7" handheld sporting dual analog sticks and an impressive 1024x600 display without a doubt has the potential to become the best device on the market for enjoying our gaming past.
The Archos Gamepad was recently shown off at the 2012 Hong Kong Electronics Fair, where the manufacturer/exhibitors seemed to have no worries about showcasing how well various emulators held up on the hardware. Within the video is a hefty section of Lylat Wars (aka Starfox 64) and Super Mario 64 running at full speed being controlled using the analog stick. Nintendo NES emulation is also given the limelight, running RC Pro AM exactly as you'd expect for a system very well documented in the emulation scene.
