‘New Retro Arcade’ Turns Your ROMs & Emulators Into A Digital Arcade

New-Retro-Arcade-Emulation-FrontendAs great as emulation is, it’s fairly daunting looking at long lists of ROMs to choose what to play. While there are fantastic solutions around such as Hyperspin to add a bit more depth to your libraries, an all new emulation frontend known as New Retro Arcade has arrived which places your games into a virtual arcade.

Although you could argue the idea has already been done with Microsoft’s Game Room, the service was somewhat limited with the amount of games on offer, leaving a lot to be desired.

New Retro Arcade on the other hand aims to pick up where Game Room left off, only this time round it hooks straight in to the likes of MAME, providing a quick and easy way to access your game ROMs. Using the various artwork packs found online, game ROMs appear as virtual cabinets featuring their very own marquees and visuals, somewhat reviving the long lost feel of an 80s arcade.

Other game consoles are supported within the software too - for example, various Game Boy handhelds are dotted around the lobby each playing a different game. Needless to say the idea and execution of New Retro Arcade is fantastic, and definitely worth checking out if emulation is your thing. A free download of the application is now available from the official website.
