New 'Duke Nukem 3D' Compilation Leaked Early

Duke Nukem Megaton EditionAfter literally decades, 2011 finally saw the release of Duke Nukem Forever - the sequel to one of the 1990s' most acclaimed first person shooters. To say that it left many gamers underwhelmed is probably an understatement. However, using the old mantra 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it,' in 2013 Devolver Digital re-worked the original Duke Nukem 3D, added 3 expansion packs and released the whole bundle on PC under the 'Duke Nukem: Megaton Edition' moniker. It's a great package for fans of the Duke and Devolver have announced that they will be releasing the Megaton Edition on PS Vita and PS3 on the 13th and 14th January in the US and Europe respectively.

However, if you happened to be browsing the European PlayStation Store in the early hours of the 6th November, you may have been a little surprised to see this:

Duke Nukem on PS Store

Yes, PlayStation EU inadvertently appear to have uploaded Duke Nukem: Megaton Edition two months early. It seems that the upload wasn't noticed for some time, as the game was purchased by an 'unknown' number of PS Store users. Once the error was spotted the game was quickly removed. Though the icon remained for some hours afterwards, gamers looking for some old-school shooting action on their PS3 or Vita were confronted with a familiar 'error' message when attempting to purchase the game.

Devolver Digital later acknowledged the error via social media, tweeting that users who managed to download the leaked game should just 'be cool.'

As stated, the official release date for this great retro bundle is now mid-January 2015 but for those not lucky enough to have snapped up Megaton Edition yesterday, here's a look at what's in store:
