New Dreamcast Visual Novel 'AMEBA' Announced

Dreamcast-AmebaIt seems that the trend for releasing new content for Sega's Dreamcast is set to continue with another new project hitting the console in the near future. AMEBA is a visual novel from Retro Sumus - a team of developers, artists and musicians with high profile indie RPG Pier Solar amongst their back catalogue. Retro Sumus' team leader Carlos Oliveros beta tested and worked on the the Spanish language translation of WaterMelon's sought after Mega Drive title, and lead programmer Chui is also onboard with the new Retro Sumus project.

Oliveros remains tight lipped regarding the meaning of the game's title, but he explained some of the main aspects of AMEBA's gameplay style. Set in modern-day Madrid, the game will see players assume the role of veteran police inspector Hugo who is tasked with investigating a series of bizarre murders - murders which seem to be totally unconnected, but which Hugo suspects are far more related than they first appear. Carlos also told me that the adventure will feature real-world locations and puzzle elements. Due to the early stage of development, other details on how AMEBA will play are thin on the ground, but with the credentials of the team working on this project it is one that Dreamcast owners will want to keep an eye on.
