New Dreamcast Game 'Xenocider' Hits Kickstarter

The Dreamcast seems to go from strength to strength and the console's library continues to grow even in 2016. Earlier this year we saw the release of Leona's Tricky Adventures, and the coming months will see Bomberman clone Alice Dreams Tournament, first person shooter SLaVE and role player Elysian Shadows grace Sega's undead system.

It looks like there'll be yet another reason to keep your Dreamcast out of the loft as we head into 2017 though, as Sin & Punishment homage Xenocider has officially entered the crowd funding stage on Kickstarter. Coming from Spanish indie developer Retro Sumus, Xenocider is an 'into the screen' on-rails shooter in which players assume the role of an armed cyborg tasked with destroying a number of hostile alien planets.

The game is also planned for PC/Mac and Nintendo 3DS as well as the Dreamcast, and the Kickstarter project offers potential backers the chance to download a fully playable demo of the opening levels. PC, Mac, Linux and Dreamcast versions are available to sample right now and the award tiers offered to potential backers are numerous. The funding goal is currently set to a rather modest $92,000 and if the project is successful, Xenocider will see a December 2017 physical release.
