New & Updated Nintendo Famicom Disk System USB Adapter ‘FDSemu’ ROM Loader Out Now

FDSemu-Famicom-Disk-System-USB-ROM-Loading-AdapterLate last year an all new device was launched that allowed Nintendo Famicom Disk System games to be run from a small USB adapter. Having seen plenty of interest, it would appear another alternative known as FDSemu has hit the retro gaming market with some added features.

This teeny tiny device, similar to the one before it known as FDSStick, completely replaces the Disk System which usually sits beneath the Nintendo Famciom. Once connected to the Ram Adapter in place of the Disk System, the device boots up an on screen menu where you can pick and choose your game of choice. Chosen game disks then behave exactly as they would do normally, loading block by block, only without the original games being present.

The FDSemu is a rather notable addition to the world of aftermarket hardware thanks to it offering twice as much space as the FDSStick, and updatable firmware too. While there is a smaller 128MBit version available, those interested can secure a spacious 256MBit model for $35. Both versions are also offering compatibility with unofficial Famicom Disk System ROMs that were made using the Game Doctor copier back in the day.

FDSemu (Prototype) In Action

Please note this is an unfinished version of the hardware and may differ from the finished product.
