New 80s-Themed Racer 'Drift Stage' Enters Kickstarter

Drift-Stage-KickstarterThink of the 1980s and you're instantly transported to a world of big hair, shoulder pads, MTV and some of the greatest movies you'll never publicly admit to having a softspot for (it's a scientific fact that there's a high correlation between Flashdance appreciation and retro gaming, for example).

To that end, enter Drift Stage - a new 1980s themed racer that features impressive stylised visuals, a fantastic soundtrack that could easily be from an Eddie Murphy buddy cop movie, and an emphasis on getting your chosen exotic supercar around the track in one way: sideways. Drift Stage is currently in the Alpha stage of development but has recently been Greenlit on Steam and will enter Kickstarter in early January 2015. An early build, featuring a suitably retro-inspired neon-lit city circuit can currently be downloaded and played for free (both PC and Mac) and the final game promises to boast multiple tracks, vehicles and gameplay modes:

Drift Stage will feature a roster of cars inspired by the mid-late 80's and early 90's racing on tracks ranging from city streets to coastal beaches and many in between. The game comes fully loaded with single-player modes including a character oriented career mode, circuit races, and leaderboard chasing time trials. Local splitscreen and online multiplayer races will also be in full swing. - Driftstagegame.com
