‘My Retro Game Box’ Service Launches: Get A Random Selection Of Classic Games Delivered Monthly

My-Retro-Game-Box-Loot-Crate-Service-LaunchesLoot boxes are becoming a common thing amongst fellow gamers now, with many different services popping up to deliver a hand-picked random selection of goodies each month. Now joining the likes of Nerd Block and Loot Crate is a subscription suited to classic gamers: My Retro Game Box.

For a monthly fee, the team behind this new subscription will send to your door a box filled with games that match your custom criteria. From Mega Drive favourites to Nintendo NES cartridges, you’ll be able to get a random selection of games to keep each and every month.

My Retro Game Box seem to already have the answers to our many questions, as they’ve already outlined that if you’d rather not receive sports titles, that can easily be arranged. On top of that too the service also hints that the occasional collectible keychain and sticker may sneak into the box.

While many of us will prefer to hand pick our titles and spend time on eBay finding them, those who prefer a more random selection may want to look into My Retro Game Box. Subscriptions start at $35 each, with both PAL and NTSC choices available.

I've taken the gamble on this myself. They cover NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBC, GBA, Master system and Megadrive/Genesis systems at the moment and it appears you can limit the systems you get games for simply by saying you don't own a specific console. So you avoid ending up with games you already have, they ask you to list games you already own and they also ask you what games you like/dislike.

I Have tried to limit the games I receive to PAL NES, Snes and N64 for my first subscription and stated that I don't like sports games(hate them is more appropriate). So I will find out when I receive my first box if it is worth the money or not and will start a topic in the forum to let everyone know what I have received.

Please do it looks interesting but I don't want to risk the £23 a month to find out. I could make collecting more interesting since in Cornwall find stuff in the wild is the rarest thing of all.

Hey I picked mine up from the post office this morning. I received three games (two carts only and one nicely boxed with pristine manual). Titles I received were V-Rally '99 (N64), Ms. Pac Man (Mega Drive) and The Jungle Book (boxed on Master System). Having a *very* quick look on eBay I see these titles go for £4, £4 and £5 respectively, so the £23 cost was a little bit high. However I must say I was excited to see what titles I'd received and I've had some laughs playing V Rally and Ms. Pac Man today so I wouldn't say it was totally wasted money as I don't think I would have picked up these games normally, I'm just glad there wasn't 3 copies of Fifa in there :P. Anyway that was my thoughts, would be interested to hear what others got in their boxes.
